What information does Pekanga collect?

The only information we collect at this stage is:

We do not collect your name, email address, age, school, or any information that identifies you as a person.

A future version of Pekanga will offer optional student accounts. When that happens, this Privacy Notice will be updated before you are asked to create an account. We will not collect any additional data without telling you first.

03

Why do we use your information?

We use anonymous usage data to understand how the platform is being used so we can improve it, ensure it is working correctly, and comply with our legal obligations. We do not use any data for advertising, marketing, or to sell to third parties.

04

What is our legal basis for processing?

Under UK GDPR, we need a lawful basis to process data. For Pekanga's current anonymous usage data, our lawful basis is legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)): the legitimate interest of operating and improving the platform.

Where Pekanga is accessed through a school, the school acts as the data controller for its students. Pekanga acts as a data processor and processes data only on the school's instructions under a Data Processing Agreement. The school holds the lawful basis for its students' use of the platform.

05

Who do we share your information with?

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with employers, universities, or advertisers.

We may share anonymised, aggregated data (which cannot identify you) with our technical hosting providers and privacy-preserving analytics tools. If we ever need to share personal data with any third party, we will tell you in advance and update this notice.

Cookies

We aim to use as few cookies as possible. At the current stage, we use only essential cookies required for the platform to work. These do not track you.

If we introduce analytics cookies in future, we will ask your permission first via a consent banner before placing them. You can refuse non-essential cookies at any time using the cookie settings link in the footer.

08

AI and automated processing

Pekanga uses AI to generate personalised career pathway information based on your subject inputs. This is a functional process — it generates information to help you, not a profile about you as a person.

The AI does not make decisions that have legal or significant effects on you. It generates information about career pathways — the decision about what to do with that information is always yours. The guidance is for information purposes only and is not a substitute for professional careers advice.
